Ingredients

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C. In a large saucepan, melt three-quarters of the butter on medium heat. When the butter is melted add the flour in small amounts making sure to whisk constantly.
  2. Add the milk along with three cups of water, being sure to continue whisking at all times.
  3. When all ingredients are combined, bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for five minutes.
  4. Add salt with half a tsp of pepper, whisk and remove from the heat.
  5. Place pasta in a large baking dish with half of the cheese. Submerge pasta in the sauce. Cover and cook in the oven for 20 minutes or until pasta is soft.
  6. After 15 minutes, melt remaining butter; add the garlic, breadcrumbs, parsley, salt and pepper and stir.
  7. Remove from oven. Sprinkle remaining cheese and breadcrumb mixture on top. Return to oven and bake until golden brown colour and crispy.
