Using light olive oil instead of butter makes this recipe an even healthier alternative for kids

This healthy pear and mixed berry crumble is full of fibre from the delicious USA pears and antioxidants from the berries.

It's a great recipe for kids and, if they love trying their hand in the kitchen, one they can even attempt themselves.

Here's what you need kids

3 large USA pears

300g mixed berries (can be frozen)

230g rolled oats

100g desiccated coconut

80g flaked almonds

50g sunflower seeds

3 tbsp light olive oil

3 tbsp runny honey

Here's what you need to do kids

Read and follow these 8 easy steps. Take your time and you'll be just great!

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Grease a small baking dish with butter and set aside.
  3. Place pears and mixed berries into the baking dish.
  4. In a medium bowl, place the rolled oats, coconut, almond flakes, sunflower seeds, olive oil and runny honey.
  5. Stir carefully to coat all ingredients.
  6. Pour rolled oats mixture on top of the fruit.
  7. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Check halfway through the cooking time to ensure that the almonds are not burning on the top.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or thick, double cream. Enjoy!
