Brands that make environmental stewardship a priority are helping planet Earth stay greener for longer.

Consumer focus has shifted towards sustainability over the last decade with less emphasis on how much and more on where from. We round up a few sustainable-conscious brands available at Choithrams.com

Ellas Kitchen

Created by two parents who believed their baby should have healthier and more delicious food options, Ella’s Kitchen makes 100% organic food for babies and kids. But further than just using organic veggies, it also uses Forest Stewardship Council-certified cardboard and recycled paper, and writes sustainability requirements into supplier contracts. An independent audit of product “pouch” packaging found they had less environmental impact in manufacture, transportation and end-of-life than plastic, glass or Tetra Pak.

Nature's Path

This fiercely independent family company based in British Columbia producing granola, cereals, breakfast bars, frozen breakfasts, baking mixes and sprouted grain breads, Nature’s Path has one guiding principle — to always leave the soil better than they found it. Committed to using quality ingredients to make healthy, vegetarian and vegan foods, it runs a near-zero-waste headquarters, including a rooftop garden, a rainwater harvesting system and on-site composting facility. It buys non-organic land in order to convert it to organic farms and provides employee grants for education, energy-efficiency, as well as wellness activities for urban gardening, environmental education and preservation programs.

Meridian Foods

Meridian Foods claims to be the first UK nut butter brand to launch a line with 100% nuts, no palm oil, sweeteners or salt, but beyond that, the brand recognises the need to nab the conscious consumer on a deeper level. Taking it a step further with its Rainforest Pledge, Meridian is investing real cash into the protection of rainforests, orangutans and other primates. The brand’s support of the Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Foundation has already seen the adoption and rehabilitation of 13 orangutans.

Eco by Naty

Swedish brand Eco by Naty has achieved international success by conducting business in a fair and ethical way, creating positive impact through efficient use of resources as well as developing renewable materials. Naty works with selected manufacturers who act responsible and follow their country’s laws and regulations to minimise impact on the environment. When it comes to transportation sea freights are preferred, truck freights on land and air freights are avoided.
