Why not treat the one you love to the perfect night in?

After many Covid-19 months of doing it, stay at home date nights have kind of lost their charm. Inject some fine dining into this Valentine's Day celebrations and hit the reset button on your nightly Netflix binge.

Whether it's your first date or your fiftieth, try these three "at-home" date night ideas, that are sure to have the sparks flying on February 14.

Picnic and nature walk

It’s a classic but there’s a good reason for that. It doesn’t get much better than cosying up in the fresh air with some good food, drinks and a nice view. Become at one with nature – and each other – by getting out and about and exploring somewhere new together.

Equally, there's nothing wrong with throwing that plaid rug on the living room floor and eating from a picnic hamper. You can imagine you're somewhere you're not! We love the Rigamonti Bresaola Dry Cured Topside Beef served on fresh bread with slightly salted butter.

Make pizza from scratch

Instead of ordering in, make the pizzas yourselves from scratch, they taste so much better and you'll have time to chat while they cook. It's a fun way to explore taste, flavour and new toppings, and perhaps discover a love of something you didn't know you liked.

Try something new like anchovies — small, slender fish found in the Black Sea. They add a distinct flavour and pair wonderfully with red onion and capers.

Bake me a winner

Turn games night into a spin off of the Great British Bake Off. Instead of board games, challenge each other to bake each other's favourite dessert and see who gets it right. Have a cup cake decorating competition or test each other on recipe methods and ingredients.

You'll soon be lost in the moment, probably covered in cream and icing sugar - and what a wonderfully-fun way to discover a new found love for baking at home.
