As the weather heats up, we all know it is important to let our little ones loose in a place that won’t leave them red faced and sweaty. Stuck for ideas of what to do with your kids when it's so hot outside? Keep cool this summer by taking advantage of our top picks in Dubai.

Kidzania

At this well-known edutainment venue, children can play at being adults for a day. Whether they work as a fireman, policeman or doctor, they will be 'paid' and allowed to use the money to buy things at Kidzania city’s shops. An atmosphere that blends education and fun creatively, Kidzania is located on the 2nd floor of Dubai Mall. An all-day pass costs Dh150 for children 3 and above, and Dh95 for toddlers 2 to 3. www.kidzania.ae

Jungle Bay Waterpark

The newest waterpark in town, Jungle Bay is ideal for toddlers and small kids - it’s also the perfect size for those parents who don’t want to be parading around a large waterpark all day! The family-friendly attraction includes a range of rides such as The Lighthouse, Whizzard & Body Slides and Gentle Kids’ Slides - there is also an area named Aqualand, designed for kids of all heights and ages, plus Family Waves, a six-meter pneumatic wave pool and The Beach restaurant, offering a casual food and beverage menu all day long.Day passes to Mina Club also grant waterpark access, priced at Dhs200 on weekdays, Dhs250 on weekends for adults, and Dhs100 on weekdays, Dhs125 on weekends for children. If you are staying at The Westin Mina Seyahi and Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, access will be free of charge. www.junglebaywaterpark.com

OliOli

The brainchild of parents who are passionate about positive play and the power of imagination, OliOli is Dubai’s first experiential children’s play museum that offers an incredibly fun experience for children and adults alike in a re-imagined interactive play environment. Featuring eight galleries spread across two floors, kids can have fun while learning at dedicated spaces: Air, Water, Toshi’s Net, Creative Lab, Future Park, Fort Building, Toddler Gallery and Cars & Ramps. Adding to the already impressive space, each gallery offers an immersive sensory experience and has been carefully designed with art and modern equipment, inspired by ideas from leading global educators, development psychologists, artists and fabricators. In total, the galleries include over 40 interactive things for kids to experience - definitely enough to keep little ones entertained for hours! They offer day passes and memberships (at amazing prices!). www.olioli.ae

WooHoo

Situated in Al Quoz and aimed at kids up to the age of 12, Woo-hoo offers a fun blend of education, discovery, development, and play across 10 themed galleries. Ranging from soft play zones to cave adventures, each gallery hosts cool interactive exhibits designed to spark children’s curiosity, imagination, and innovation whilst delivering clear learning objectives. We particularly loved the rain room, where kids are kitted out with raincoats and encouraged to explore different water activities (whilst getting very wet so bring a change of clothes!) There is a cafe called The Nest onsite too for a quick snack break or coffee and a number of sanitising stations to ensure Covid-19 safety measurements are met. They also have a wonderful calendar of events and camps which come in handy particularly during the school holidays! www.woo-hoo.ae

XPark Jr

A natural forest-style playscape just off Kite Beach, XPark Jr has been created to bring kids closer to Mother Nature through touching real plants and trees, making secret hideouts, conquering and climbing wooden forts, crossing streams of water and marveling at birds, bugs, and creatures who share our world. Sparking imagination, the team have created a habitat where little ones can play, get dirty, run freely, roll in the grass, all whilst parents either join in or enjoy a coffee at the cafe. The entire area offers lots of shade and there are plenty of water areas, ensuring kids stay cool whilst playing. Booking in advance is essential. www.xparkjr.com
