A few recipes to spoil dad with this Father's Day

Father's Day for many nations is celebrated on the third Sunday in June, making the 2023 edition on June 18.

In addition, UAE Father's Day takes place on Wednesday, June 21 this year.

Bolognese pie

Over pasta? Embrace something a bit different with a tasty bolognese in pie form with this comforting cold night staple.

Make the bolognese sauce as per your favourite recipe, then simply follow these steps:

1. Transfer your bolognese sauce mixture to an oven-proof dish.
2. Lay either some crusty pie, or puff, pastry on the top.
3. Pleat the edges to seal the pie.
4. Brush with egg wash or milk, which will help the pie brown.
5. Place in the oven on a baking tray and bake for 30 minutes, or until the pastry is deep golden.
6. Scatter with Parmesan cheese, basil leaves and black pepper to serve.

Lamb sausage rolls

The best bit about these awesome sausage rolls is you can make them ahead of time and freeze a giant batch before you bake.

It's the ultimate easy weekend saver, and great for those stuck at school/college/work. with little time to spoil dad.

• Preheat oven to 200 ̊C.
• Divide lamb kofta meat into balls.
• Take some pastry sheets, laying the meat along one edge to form a log.
• Roll to enclose, brushing the last 3cm of pastry overlap with egg wash. Seal and trim pastry.
• Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper, seam side down and freeze for 10 minutes.
• Cut each roll into four and leave on the tray. Brush with egg wash and scatter with extra cumin seeds.
• Bake for 30 minutes or until pastry is golden and rolls cooked through.
