The forces continues

Star Wars enthusiasts rack up millions of online views as the latest trailer for the next instalment from Lucasfilm is officially revealed

Star Wars fans behold, the first look at The Last Jedi has arrived. This week Lucasfilm debuted the trailer and gave a sneak peek of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the long-awaited sequel to box office-smash The Force Awakens

As we’d expect it’s fast, energetic and full of action and there a lot to take in from the brief teaser. Much of the action is set on Ahch-To, the planet that Rey discovered Luke on at the end of the previous film. There are glimpses of Finn in a pod, various explosions and a couple of big battles: one on the ground against what looks like First Order Walkers, and a dogfight between X-Wings and TIE fighters. At the end, Luke has a pretty strong message for everyone as he announces, “it’s time for the Jedi to end”.

The trailer was released at the 2017 Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida, this week, an event that kicked off with an epic tribute for the Saga’s 40th anniversary featuring surprise guests George Lucas, Kathleen Kennedy, Warwick Davis, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Dave Filoni, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Billy Dee Williams, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford.

The finale was an emotional tribute to Carrie Fisher with remarks from her daughter Billie Lourd and a surprise appearance by legendary composer John Williams, who conducted the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra while they played “Leia’s Theme.”

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in cinemas across the GCC from December 14, 2017. The wait begins!
