It’s roasting outside. There’s no denying it; unless you’re the turkey at Christmas, there’s simply no way you need to be outside in this heat. So what to do? There are still days to be filled, there’s time to be taken up, there are people to be entertained… Here are three new suggestions for this week.
#1 Meet me at the movies
Reel Cinemas - Emaar’s cinema experience brand - has opened a new boutique theatre at Rove Downtown, its contemporary midscale hotel in Downtown Dubai. Expect a distinct inner-city vibe and a casual chic atmosphere, with just 46 stylised seats and state-of-the-art audio visual technologies. Screening blockbuster titles as well as high-profile sports events and regional cinema, the theatre offers all-in tickets which include a soft drink and popcorn with flavours such as Sweet & Salty, Wasabi, Cappuccino and Strawberry & Cream.
If you fancy something more substantial or a little stronger, there are other F&B options including a licensed bar with drinks delivered to your seats. Showings before 7pm are open to all ages, dependent upon title rating, and post-7pm showings are reserved for over-21s only.
#2 Take a dip in the moonlight
For the ultimate in post-work chillouts, head for the pool at La Ville; every day from 5pm until 10pm it’s Dip In The Dark! On weekdays Dhs100 will get you pool access to the rooftop infinity pool, with Dhs50 to spend on F&B at LookUp, while the weekend package costs Dhs150 with a Dhs100 F&B spend.
The infinity pool boasts awesome views of the stunning city skyline, including the spectacular Burj Khalifa, and LookUp has a great selection of bar bites and refreshing beverage concoctions to make sure you’re well-fed and properly chilled out after a long day in the office.

#3 Bounce off some energy
How are you supposed to tire out the kids and let them burn off some steam when outside, there literally is steam? Head for somewhere like Bounce, that’s how! The indoor trampoline park is now offering Freestyle sessions and they’re perfect for anyone needing to let loose. Freestyle - described as self-expression through movement and personality - involves tricks, flips and all sorts of other adventurous activities, either with or without props such as scooters and bikes.
Qualified, experienced Bounce crew are on hand to provide hints and tips for first-timers, and they’ll have you doing twisting flips, 360s and wall-running kabooms in no time! And, what’s more, Bounce is currently offering a full two-hour Freestyle Pass session for just Dhs120.
